Description
Wilderness Wander: A Guided Walk at Taylor’s Pond

Sunday mornings, October 25, November 1, November 8 and November 15, 2026 · 10 am to noon · $50 per person, tax included
Spend a crisp fall morning walking land that’s protected forever. Dan leads this two-hour walk along an old farm driveway and fields at Taylor’s Pond, part of the Nova Scotia Nature Trust’s Plaister Cliffs lands near Baddeck.
On the walk you’ll:
- Learn why the gypsum under your feet, known locally as “plaister,” makes this one of the rarest landscapes in northeastern North America
- Read the story of an old Highland settler farm going back to forest, from the apple trees to the golden tamarack
- Look for deer, fox, ruffed grouse, red squirrels and the eagles of the Bras d’Or
- Discover a wild seasonal treat along the way (we’ll keep that one a surprise)
- Finish with tea and homemade scones on a farmhouse veranda overlooking the Great Bras d’Or Channel
Every guest goes home with a small keepsake from the walk.
Good to know: walks are limited to 12 people. The ground is uneven, so wear sturdy waterproof boots and warm layers. Late fall is hunting season, so a bright jacket is a good idea.
